One of the best things about WhatsApp is the ability to have a group chat, but it can be unrelenting.
Accidentally release some terrible banter into the lion’s den that is your friendship circle and it’s there forever to be judhed.
Well no longer will this be the case as WhatsApp will now let you delete messages in a group chat so you can act like it never happened.
And it won’t just delete the message for you, it lets you ‘delete for everyone’ so no one will see it.
It’s a feature many have wanted for a long time and it is finally being rolled out here.
It will let you delete the message within SEVEN minutes of sending it.
“Deleting messages for everyone allows you to delete messages you have sent to either a group or an individual chat,” a WhatsApp note explains.
“This is particularly useful if you sent a message to the wrong chat, or if the message you sent contains a mistake.”
A blog post from WhatsApp also explains that if you do delete a message it will say “the message was deleted” so there will be proof of your mistake, but not what it was.
To delete a message, follow these steps:
- Open WhatsApp
- Navigate to the chat with the offending message
- Tap and hold the message
- Choose Delete from the menu
- Optionally, select multiple messages to delete several items at once
- Tap Delete > Delete for Everyone
